A Letter from the NHS Psych!
NHS Psychiatrist!
In seeing the NHS psychiatrist back in March 2001, I sent him some literature on Adult ADD and medications, this is how he replied.........

Dear Mrs ......

I am writing to acknowledge reciept of the papers you sent regarding Attention Defecit Disorder, which I have read.

However, as I explained to you at your last clinic appointment, the drug referred to is only prescribed for children and not adults, as it tends to have the opposite effect.

Therefore, as it is not standard practice in this country, I am not going to prescribe this. Any further requests for this medication will have to be discussed with your G.P who, if he feels it appropriate, may refer you for a second opinion. In the meantime I would suggest you continue attending your appointments with the Psychology Dept.

Yours Sincerely,

...............
Consultant Psychiatrist

Well if that didn't throw me what would!!!
No wonder I lost heart and got fed up with it all, am pleased looking back that I carried on my fight and got the diagnosis and medication I need. All be it that I had to go private but this to me was a big INJUSTICE!
