Friends of the Barton Line (N.E. Lincs.)
British Rail poster
The Society was inaugurated on 16th July 1998 and has been meeting in committee on alternate months at the White Swan Hotel just a ticket flick from Barton station. Our purpose is to promote and seek improvements to the services and infrastructure on the Barton branch in order to stimulate better use of this valuable community asset. We do this by holding regular constructive meetings with the train operator and by running special events that entail using the train.

In 1999 we very successfully celebrated the 150th anniversary of the line. This year we shall continue with such exciting events as music, beer, poetry, picnic, rambler and trolley trains, visits to places of railway interest and excursions for school children.

Our events are generally free and open to all but for £5 per family per year paid up supporters help defray our expenses, receive priority bookings and have a say in running the Society.
