Laceby History Group
LACEBY HISTORY GROUP
Laceby Mill 1912 Laceby History Group was formed in April 1977 as a result of the interest generated by a series of lectures on the history of Laceby given by Peter Gosden.

The aims of the Group are:-

To promote interest in the history and heritage of Laceby and the surrounding area

To seek and preserve records past and present, of the life and times of Laceby.

Peter Gosden was the founder Chairman of the Group and continued as Chairman until 1992, when Pat Anderson succeeded him, with Peter still retaining a very active interest. In May 2003, Barry Chambers became Chairman, with Pat retaining his involvement with the post of Vice-Chairman.

Meetings of the Group are held on the second Thursday of each month at the Stanford Centre, Cooper Lane, Laceby, 7pm to 9pm. Everyone is welcome and the atmosphere is friendly and informal with a varied and interesting programme.

Highlights since1975 include various exhibitions, slideshows, outings and publication of twelve "Chronicles of Laceby” which detail various aspects of the history of Laceby. The Group has amassed a considerable amount of archive material, a marvellous collection of Laceby photographs and slides, together with recordings of local memories and tales. The Group has a strong social side and above all we enjoy ourselves.

The Group is happy to carry out limited research for genealogical and local history enquiries and has to hand the 1841 to 1901 census returns for Laceby, memorial inscriptions for the churchyard and cemetery, maps including the 1841 tithe map and schedule, directory entries and much more.
